Carapace in English
Atelier Carapace is a creative and a therapeutic space opened to children who suffer for various reasons (school issues, relational problems, integration issues and other behavioural problems).
Atelier Carapace was created by Mrs. Masumi Mizoguchi, Art-Thrapist in practice (completed her master training at EESP, Lausanne). She has two children and her elder son was diagnosed with autistic disorder (PDD-NOS) at the age of 3, and now goes to "normal" school like everybody else (he is 12 years old).
As a foreigner who tried to install in Geneva, she had also struggled to find an appropriate solution for her boy, with limited French capacity at that time, so that she totally understand the difficulty to live in a foreign country with a young child with specific needs.
Masumi did not open this studio to bring some kind of "miracle" but she will accompany children with a creative, playful and non-judgemental attitude. The children will express their joy and their difficulty via creative and artistic media. She will hold a therapeutic space where children can accept their own issues and begin to change themselves by their own will. This process does not rely on a behavioural method to rapidly eliminate the unwanted outcome, but rather an accompaniment in a creative way which will make a change in a children's fundamental mechanism supported by their own initiative.
She knows the importance of early intervention by different specialists in early stage of a child problem to bring the fundamental change in child's behavior, she will communicate and support family for an often long and difficult path of accompaniment.
